The Witch's Rebirth Series

The seeds of a story can sprout in the most unexpected places. For me, the Witch’s Rebirth Series began not in a burst of fantastical inspiration, but in the quiet pursuit of family history and a fascination with the lore surrounding witches. Exploring my ancestry became a journey through time, connecting me to figures both tangible and shrouded in  mystery.

One name that emerged from the genealogical dig was Clovis I, Merovingian King of the Franks. Born in 466 AD and ruling until his death in 511 AD, Clovis stood out – a historical figure, but also a link to a distant, almost mythic past. Knowing he was my 45th great-grandfather created a tangible connection to a world where magic and monarchy seemingly coexisted. The allure of that era, with its blend of faith, warfare, and whispers of ancient practices, began to weave its way into my imagination.

Around the same time, my interest in witchcraft and folklore was deepening. I wasn’t just learning about historical figures; I was immersing myself in the symbolism, the rituals, and the often-misunderstood history of witches. The overlap between these two worlds – historical ancestry and witchcraft – sparked a powerful idea: a story about reclaiming power, challenging perceptions, and the enduring legacy of ancient bloodlines.

But research and fascination alone weren’t enough to fully ignite the story. Inspiration often comes from the physical world, and mine arrived unexpectedly during a hike. Stumbling upon a labyrinth, its winding paths leading me to an unknown center, became a powerful metaphor for the journey of self-discovery, the challenges of navigating complex histories, and the secrets hidden within. The labyrinth became a visual representation of the series’ central theme: the intricate and often confusing path towards understanding and reclaiming one’s heritage.

Finally, and perhaps most dear to my heart, came Morrigan. My beautiful red German Shepherd, with her unwavering loyalty, fierce protectiveness, and undeniable air of mystery, provided the living, breathing inspiration for the central character, The Morrigan, in the series. She embodied the strength, independence, and untamed spirit that I wanted to infuse into the protagonist.

So, the Witch’s Rebirth Series wasn’t born from a single moment of inspiration. It was the culmination of disparate elements: the tangible weight of family history, the alluring mystique of witchcraft, the symbolic power of a labyrinth, and the unwavering spirit of a beloved dog. These influences, woven together, created the foundation for a story about rediscovering heritage, embracing power, and challenging the boundaries of what we believe to be true. It’s a journey that starts with the past and leads to a future where the magic within us can finally bloom.
